Alpha reading is an early stage of manuscript review that focuses on enhancing a story’s core elements before progressing to more comprehensive revisions. Unlike beta reading, the alpha reader provides feedback from the perspective of both a writer and a reader, resulting in more insightful comments.
In my alpha reading service, I provide feedback aimed at helping you achieve your writing goals. This feedback comes in two forms: inline comments within your manuscript, where I respond to specific moments with close observations on tone, pacing, clarity, and characterization; and a separate Reader Report that offers a big-picture view of your story’s strengths and weaknesses. And while your intentions as the author remain my priority, I’ll also highlight other areas that may benefit from refinement, such as plot and development, structure and flow, believability, characterization, and overall mood and tone—all with the goal of helping you tell the story you want to tell, more effectively.
